Years have passed since Sun Wukong, the legendary Monkey King, secured peace in the celestial and earthly realms. Now, the tales of his bravery and mischief have become bedtime stories for children, but a dark threat looms on the horizon, threatening to unravel the tranquility he fought so hard to establish.

In the tranquil kingdom of Flower-Fruit Mountain, Sun Wukong enjoys a peaceful life alongside his friends, including the loyal pig warrior Zhu Bajie and the dragon prince Ao Lie. However, their idyllic existence is shattered when rumors of a powerful sorcerer named Xie Wu surface. Xie Wu, once banished from the heavenly realm, has returned with an army of dark creatures, seeking revenge against the gods and to claim the throne of the heavens.
